2. The Egyptian Museum



The Egyptian Museum is one of the most important tourist attractions in Cairo and even Egypt in general. It is the first place to house the diverse rich monuments and artifacts of Egypt since 1902.  It is one of its largest museums in area and collections; as the ancient museum contains about 150 thousand pieces dealing with the history of Pharaonic, Roman, and Greek, divided over two floors. One of them contains light objects such as small statues, manuscripts, and pictures, and the other contains heavy pieces such as sarcophagi, mummies, and huge statues.

3. The Grand Egyptian Museum



The Grand Egyptian Museum, also known as the Giza Museum, is the largest archaeological museum in the world. It is located at the edge of the first desert plateau between the pyramids and Cairo. It houses artifacts of ancient Egypt, including the complete Tutankhamun collection.

4. Cairo Tower



This 187m-high tower is the city’s most famous landmark after the Pyramids. Built-in 1961. It is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Cairo, which represents the lotus flower; the icon of the Pharaonic civilization. The Cairo Tower is located in a privileged location as it overlooks the Nile River, with one look from the top of the tower, you will see Cairo in full in front of you; from the Nile River, passing through the Radio and Television building, and not ending with the pyramids.

5. El Moez Street



El-Moez Street is an outstanding street known in Islamic Cairo as Al Moez Ldin Allah Al Fatimi Street. The street was named after the fourth Caliph of the Fatimid Dynasty and the 14th Ismaili imam who reigned from 953 to 975, Al Moez Ldin Allah Al Fatimi. The national government held some renovations to the structure of the street and to the buildings inside it making the street look like an open museum for tourists.

6.The Pharaonic Village



Pharaonic Village is located on a smallish Nile River island known as Ya’aqoub Island not very far from downtown Cairo. It covers an area of approximately 490,000 square meters. This delightful attraction aims to provide visitors with the opportunity to see what village life was like in ancient Egypt during the Pharaonic era. This is accomplished with the use of a wide range of replicas; along with the services of numerous actors and actresses.

7. Mosque of Sultan Hassan



This grand structure is regarded as the finest piece of early Mamluk architecture in Cairo. It was built between 1356 and 1363 by Sultan Hassan, a grandson of Sultan Qalaun; he took the throne at the age of 13, deposed and reinstated no less than three times; then assassinated shortly before the mosque was completed. Beyond the striking recessed entrance, a dark passage leads into a peaceful square courtyard surrounded by four soaring iwans dedicated to teaching the four main schools of Sunni Islam.

8. Salah El-Din Citadel



Salah El-Din Citadel is a medieval Islamic fortress that is located on Mokattam Hill near Cairo. It is now a historical site with mosques and museums. Salah El-Din Citadel was established in the 12th century by the famous Arabian leader Saladin. It is located near many tourist attractions like the Egyptian Museum and the Sultan Hassan mosque.

9.Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque



The amazing Amr ibn al-As mosque was the center of the ancient capital of Egypt “Fustat”. It was built in 641–642 AD and is considered the fourth-largest mosque in the Islamic world. It was also the first mosque to be built in Africa. The mosque was built in the previous location of the tent that belonged to the Islamic commander Amr ibn al-As.

10. Khan El Khalili Bazaar



Khan El-Khalili is a major souk that is located in the heart of Islamic Cairo. It is an open-air bazaar that is considered to be one of Cairo’s main attractions as tourists come from the whole world to visit it and buy different antiques and items from it. Khan El-Khalili bazaar is crowded with different types of goods, cafes, restaurants, and clothes shops. The location of this huge market was, in fact, the burial site of the Fatimid Caliphs.
